Dentures

Dentures are removable prosthetic teeth designed to replace missing teeth. They are custom-made to fit your mouth and match your remaining teeth. Dentures are a common solution to tooth loss and are used to prevent teeth from shifting and assist with chewing.

Dentures are removable, which means you can remove them for cleaning. You will need to clean them daily to remove food and plaque. This will keep bacteria from growing on your dentures and damaging your teeth.

Dentures and Your Oral Health

Dentures are removable appliances that can greatly improve the function of your teeth and mouth. Dentures can replace multiple missing teeth, support permanent teeth, and help you speak and chew more effectively.

Dentures use suction to stay in place, and they can also look very natural.

What are common types of dentures?

The most common types of dentures are full and partial dentures. Full dentures replace an entire row of teeth, while partial dentures replace only a few. Both types of dentures can be held in place by denture adhesive.

How are they made?

Your dentist will take a mold of your mouth, along with measurements and photographs. This mold will be used to create your denture. While you're waiting for the cast to be finished, your dentist will fit you with a temporary denture. Once your final denture is ready, you will come back in to have it fitted and adjusted for a perfect fit.

How do dentures improve your smile?

With dentures, you can bite, chew, and speak normally. When the dentures fit properly, they will feel like your natural teeth. You'll also look younger, as missing teeth cause your face to appear sunken and wrinkled.

How Can I care for My Dentures?

Just like natural teeth, dentures require daily cleaning. Use a soft-bristled toothbrush and denture cleaner to clean the dentures, making sure to scrub all the surfaces of the dentures. This will help remove food particles, plaque, and tartar that accumulate on the dentures. It's also important to remove any adhesive from the dentures, which will keep the dentures from fitting properly.
